Join me for an afternoon of soft and gentle yoga in aid of The Day Hospice in Bedford. We’ll enjoy a gentle stretch out, some Yin poses, fully supported Restorative Yoga and a delicious Yoga Nidra to finish.

Absolutely no experience of yoga is needed to enjoy this deeply relaxing stress busting experience. During this busy time of year take some time out for you, and benefit the Day Hospice and their amazing work in the process.

Traditionally Counted Ashtanga Vinyasa Workshop at Raphael Fitness, Marston Moretaine

In this 2 hour workshop I will guide you through the full Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Each pose prepares the body for the next pose or one later in the sequence during the course of which we work pretty much every joint and muscle in the body.

If you have some experience of any form of yoga you can come and experience Ashtanga in its traditional form in this workshop. If you’re a more experienced Ashtangi or haven’t practiced regularly for a while this is a great way to re-energise your practice.

Modifications will be offered thorughout so don’t worry about any poses that are unfamiliar.

As Autumn arrives honour the slowing down season with self care in the form of a retreat day at Tofte. Many animals fatten themselves up ready to hibernate but we carry on regardless (although we might well fatten ourselves up as salads give way to stodge) often at cost to our health so we’ll be exploring how we can use the techniques of yoga to support the immune system and prepare mind and body for the coming period. We can create our own wellbeing and resilience with simple rituals and yoga sequences to keep us functioning as the best version of ourselves. Let’s stay strong, light and happy as the skies begin to darken for the Autumn/Winter season.

Different yoga styles can compliment and confuse!
You may have experienced Slow Flow, Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Yin Yoga, Restorative or Hatha Yoga. Maybe you don't know what type of yoga it is that you do?
So how do you know which style will benefit you most and will suit the way you are made. How can you develop and grow your yoga?

I'm co-hosting this fun workshop with Angela Davey and our aim is to help you explore and experience different yoga styles and explain the differing approaches to poses and breath work that each offers.
We will discuss benefits, modifications and how you can incorporate the best of all styles to suit your individual needs.

Suitable for anyone who regularly attends a yoga class.

September Retreat and Houseparty in Uzes in the South of France - SOLD OUT

Come and experience a piece of real France; the area I know best and love deeply for all its many charms. A fabulous climate having more days of sunshine per year than any other area of France, history from the Roman era, beautiful food, olive oils and wines from vines grown within a stone’s throw. All this and yoga too!

We’ll start each morning with yoga of a style and level suited to the group, there’s be plenty of time to relax and explore during the day and we’ll come together late afternoon for a chilled session of yoga and meditation before dinner.

Our home for the week is a fabulous villa with grounds, swimming pool, shady areas to chill out and comfortable ensuite rooms. Food will be supplied by a local chef who can cater for any specific allergies or dietary requirements.

Ryan Air fly from Luton to Nimes which is just 30-40 minutes away by car, Easy Jet fly to Montpelier which is about 1.5 hours away by car, or you can let the train take the strain and take Eurostar from London St Pancras to Avignon (if taking the train use the via Lille route). Avignon is just 40 - 45 minutes away.

Make May the month you take time to treat yourself and maybe a friend or partner to a day at Tofte. There is no more magical place to practice yoga than the Crystal Room with it’s amazing energy and beautiful crystals. We’ll start the day with classic Pranayama breathing techniques and then explore how we can incorporate the magic of mudras into our yoga poses as we practice. Mudras are usually thought of as hand gestures (not the rude kind!) but they can also be employed using other parts of the body or the whole body. In the afternoon after time to explore and chill out in the grounds we’ll play with some Yin poses and finish with fully supported Restorative Poses and a Yoga Nidra which is guaranteed to send you home relaxed and rejuvenated. These days are suitable for all levels including complete beginners. The only warning I would offer is that once experienced in this wonderful setting you may be hooked!

Nourishing the Chakras with Restorative Yoga by Candlelight

I am co-hosting this relaxing treat with Akarmalife Studios Ampthill.

December is often a fun and social month as the run up to Christmas begins in earnest. But it can also leave you feeling stressed and exhausted, especially as daylight dwindles. Take time out for a nourishing and balancing evening of restorative yoga focusing on each of the chakras in turn. Not sure what the chakras are all about? No problem, you will be gently guided to explore each one and its effects in turn. 

We'll practice by candlelight and finish with a guided yoga nidra to leave you relaxed, grounded and ready for the festive season.

Building a Home Yoga Practice

Coming to a yoga class is great; the energy of practicing with other people, the guidance of a teacher and a regular commitment to your practice. But there are huge benefits to doing yoga at home too. Here are my top 5:
1. You choose a time and place to practice that suits you.
2. There is no one to compare yourself to so you can just focus on looking inwards and exploring.
3. You create a discipline of self-care, perfect for helping you de-stress.
4. You can spend as long as you like in a particular pose or choose to flow and move.
5. You can practice in your pyjamas or underwear if you like!

In this workshop we'll look at how to create home practice sequences that work for you and your body, how to set up your space and how to use improvised props to support you.

Yoga of the Senses

Come and spend an afternoon exploring how we can use yoga to deepen our awareness of our senses. We will awaken each of our senses, sight, sound, smell, and touch throughout the workshop having some fun along the way. We'll save the sense of taste for the tea and cake afterwards! The yoga will be suitable for all levels using classic Hatha poses and finish with restorative and a short yoga nidra.

Midwinter Deep Relaxation

Bleak midwinter need not be quite so bleak! Come and explore the deep healing side of yoga for an afternoon. We will start with Yin Yoga Poses which work with the connective tissues of the body and the Chinese Meridian lines to help free energetic or emotional blocks. Full Restorative Yoga poses will follow allowing the body and the organs to completely relax and we'll finish with a Yoga Nidra which induces the state between waking and sleeping leaving body and mind calm, relaxed and refreshed. These forms of yoga are suitable for all levels including complete beginners. We use bolsters, blankets and props to make every pose comfortable and cosy. After the yoga there will be tea and cake. What better way could there be to spend a winter afternoon?

Yoga and Tai Chi Retreat

I'm teaming up with  Lynnette, who teaches Tai Chi at akarmalife to offer this rare opportunity to treat yourself to a full day of Yoga and Tai Chi at the fabulous Tofte Manor in Bedfordshire. 

Suitable for all levels of Yoga and Tai Chi students you can choose to attend all the sessions on the day or just some of them.

After Navasana!

A playful exploration and look at the second half of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at Akarmalife. If you have been coming to one hour led Primary classes but wondered what comes next or how you approach the poses later in the series this workshop is for you. Modifications and easier versions are always available so come and enjoy the experience of the poses you don't normally have time for in an hour's class.

Yoga Storytime

An extended gentle flowing practice suitable for all levels throughout which I will weave the myths, stories and tall tales that lie behind the names of the yoga poses. Expect to meet Gods, Goddesses, animals real and imagined along the way as well as an occasional sage.

We'll end the practice with a long guided mediation in Savasana and finish with tea and treats to round off the afternoon.
